Former Army Captain and CIA Officer Deb McGrath Raises $100K In First 24 Hours Since Launching Campaign for WI-03

Grassroots supporters know that Menomonie Democrat Deb McGrath has what it takes to hold this critical swing-seat

Today, former Army captain and CIA officer Deb McGrath announced that her campaign has raised over $100,000 within the first 24 hours since launching her candidacy for Congress in Wisconsin’s Third District. Deb’s strong fundraising numbers are a clear indication that Western Wisconsin voters are fired up to send an experienced and rational thinker to Congress who will tackle issues with common-sense and collaboration.

“Western Wisconsin voters know that we need common-sense leadership in Washington, DC. Both in time growing up in Menomonie, and during my service abroad, I learned the importance of solving problems through rational collaboration in order to get hard things done,” said Deb McGrath. “I am humbled to have received the financial support of so many Wisconsin donors, and I promise to carry their voice with me to the halls of Congress.”

About Deb McGrath

Born and raised in western Wisconsin, Deb McGrath is a former Army Captain, CIA officer, and working mother of three children. She and her husband, COL (Ret) Kevin McGrath, raised their three children with an emphasis on public and community service. Deb’s father is the late Congressman Al Baldus and her mother, Lolly, served in education for over 20 years. Both of her parents came from farm families. Deb grew up listening to the concerns of those in her community.

Deb McGrath served 25 years in national security positions requiring non-partisan strategies for mission accomplishment. McGrath will fight for issues that keep America strong: affordable and accessible healthcare, economic opportunity, thoughtful infrastructure investments, clear voting rights, and respect for human rights. She will advocate to bring broadband to all communities in Wisconsin, as this is critical for the economic success of families, small businesses and farms.

Deb is a rational thinker who will tackle these issues with common sense and  collaboration.

While in the U.S. Army, Deb McGrath served in the demilitarized zone in Korea and at several U.S. military bases. In the CIA, her assignments included Southeast and South Asia, West Africa, the former Soviet Union, and Central Europe, including two combat zones. She was awarded parachutist wings, the overseas ribbon, the U.S. Army Meritorious Service Medal, and the CIA Career Medal, among several other awards.

WI-03 is a competitive seat that may determine the partisan majority in the U.S. House of Representatives in 2022. The current Congressman, Democrat Ron Kind, won the district by 4 points in 2020.
